About the Project

The partnership is proposing a 250 megawatt hydroelectric project that will generate power in a manner that minimizes adverse environmental impacts with particular focus on the protection of fish and fish habitat.

The pre-feasibility and site selection studies for the project have been completed. The partners are now poised to move forward on the feasibility phase of the project. During this next phase, the assessments will be made on the project’s economic and environmental viability.

If proven feasible, the Pehonan hydroelectric project will provide numerous benefits to the province of Saskatchewan, stakeholders and the three First Nations. The community will profit from direct jobs and business opportunities created through the construction phase of the project. In addition, once operational the Project will provide an important new revenue stream into the economy of the three First Nations communities.
