About Us
The partnership that has proposed the Pehonan Hydroelectric Project is comprised of the following:
The First Nations made up of three bands including the James Smith Cree Nation, the Cumberland 100A First Nation/Peter Chapman Band and the Chakastaypasin Band of the Cree.
Brookfield Renewable Power, a renewable energy company committed to environmentally-responsible power generation and development.
Kiewit one of the largest and most respected construction and mining organizations in North America; built the Nipawin project.
Brookfield Renewable Power and Kiewit bring first class experience, cost management discipline, talent, capital and management capacity to the project. Combined, they bring unparalleled experience as power developers, asset managers and power construction experts in Canada.
In addition, the three First Nations bring leadership, guidance and direction regarding the identification, evaluation and protection of environmental values, and relations with First Nations and the broader community. Their principles of respect and sound management for culture, land and aquatic values will guide the project team.
