Who are the three First Nations Partners?
The three First Nations is made up of three bands including the James Smith Cree Nation, the Peter Chapman Band/Cumberland 100A First Nation and the Chakastaypasin Band of the Cree.

Who is Brookfield Renewable Power?
Brookfield Renewable Power, a division of Brookfield Asset Management Inc., has developed and successfully operated hydroelectric power facilities in North America and Brazil for over 100 years. As a developer, owner and operator of reliable hydroelectric power and wind power generating facilities, we produce primarily renewable energy.

A summary of some of Brookfield Renewable Power Projects:

Hydropower 

  • Recently completed, in partnership with Kiewit, a $100 million Shikwamkwa Dam replacement project in northern Ontario;
  • Over the past 12 months, commissioned two new hydroelectric generating stations in Brazil with an installed capacity of more than 65 MW ( $202 million);
  • Currently have two hydro facilities under construction in North America;
  • In 2006 Brookfield partnered with the ‘Namgis First Nations to form Kwagis Power for the future development of a 45 megawatt run-of-river hydroelectric generation project, the Kokish River Hydroelectric Project, in British Columbia. The project was recently awarded a 40-year Electricity Power Purchase Agreement with BC Hydro.

Wind Energy 

  • November 2006 - Commissioned Prince Wind Farm in Northern Ontario (189 MW) 
  • October 2010 - Commissioned Gosfield Wind Farm in Southern Ontario (50 MW) 
  • October 2010 - Broke ground for Comber Wind Farm in Southern Ontario, planned commissioning Fall 2011 (166 MW)
