The three First Nations is made up of three bands including the James Smith Cree Nation, the Peter Chapman Band/Cumberland 100A First Nation and the Chakastaypasin Band of the Cree.

A summary of some of Brookfield Renewable Power Projects:
Hydropower
- Recently completed, in partnership with Kiewit, a $100 million Shikwamkwa Dam replacement project in northern Ontario;
- Over the past 12 months, commissioned two new hydroelectric generating stations in Brazil with an installed capacity of more than 65 MW ( $202 million);
- Currently have two hydro facilities under construction in North America;
- In 2006 Brookfield partnered with the ‘Namgis First Nations to form Kwagis Power for the future development of a 45 megawatt run-of-river hydroelectric generation project, the Kokish River Hydroelectric Project, in British Columbia. The project was recently awarded a 40-year Electricity Power Purchase Agreement with BC Hydro.
Wind Energy
- November 2006 - Commissioned Prince Wind Farm in Northern Ontario (189 MW)
- October 2010 - Commissioned Gosfield Wind Farm in Southern Ontario (50 MW)
- October 2010 - Broke ground for Comber Wind Farm in Southern Ontario, planned commissioning Fall 2011 (166 MW)
