The partnership:
1. What are the details of the partnership between Brookfield Renewable Power, Kiewit and the three First Nations - The James Smith Cree Nation, Chakastaypasin Band of the Cree Nation and Cumberland 100A First Nation/Peter Chapman Band?
Brookfield and the three First Nations have agreed in principle on terms that will:
Enable a socially responsible and sustainable form of economic development;
Generate wealth for the communities through sharing in benefits as owners, and employment and contracting; and
Provide a platform for broader economic and infrastructure development.
Brookfield and the three First Nations have a joint ownership structure to develop and operate a hydro project on the Saskatchewan River; the three First Nations will have an equity partnership in the project. Kiewit is the construction partner and may also hold an equity position in the project.
2. What is SaskPower’s role at this stage of the project?
SaskPower will work with the partnership in conducting the feasibility work and review of the project economics via committee participation.
